For some explanation why I luvs them mad scientists [link]

Some of my favourite ones here:
From left to right:

Master (Doctor Who). As for which incarnation of him, it's the first one (Roger Delgado), my favourite.

Victor Frankenstein (Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus) Ths story has been re-told and re-made countless times, but I prefer the original book.

William and Annette Birkin (Resident Evil). This series has so many nutty scientists, one of the reasons I like it, but the Birkins are perhaps closest to the archetypical mad scientists, plus they get points for being a evil scientist couple.

Otto Octavius, Aka Doctor Octopus (Spider-Man) This was the first time I tried drawing the movie version of his actuators. More practise is needed.

Herbert West (Herbert West-Reanimator) . I've never seen any of the movies, and the book is not among the best of Lovecraft, but I read it as a kid, and it made quite an impression on me. His appearance here is based on the book-version, and how I always imagined him.

Henry Jekyll (Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde). In my opinion, the most complex and interesting of the characters presented here. I won't go into the subtleties of the novel in question here, but if you haven't read the book, do so.
And of course Jekyll/Hyde is the prototype of the scientist who changes himself into a monster.

These are not the only ones I like, and I'm sure there are ones I have completely forgotten. Who are your favourite evil/mad scientists in fiction? Or not necessarily even evil or morally questionable? I'd like to know, especially if you can point out any good female characters in this category.
